We can give advice about finding the right colors, creating a mood for your room, learning paint techniques, adapting design trends and more.
I am painting my kitchen, breakfast area and need advice on color. The cabinets are a light oak with white countertops. The appliances are white with some black(front of oven). The floor is tiled with a beige tile. There is also a small powder room off the kitchen that needs painting.
Knowing where to get started with a project is always the hardest part!
I would recommend starting with this decision:
Are going to paint your cabinetry or not? I think it is best to start figuring out your color options there because that will affect every other decision you make.
Assuming that you are not painting cabinetry, I would find an inspiration piece to start with in your search for color. Perhaps you have a favorite pillow or rug? If you'd like to create an open airy space, look for complementary colors (to your cabinets) that are either lighter or similar in color intensity to your cabinetry. You might find a shade of pale blue or soft green to be really pretty. Or you can be a little more daring and go for something with more punch, like a lively shade of tangerine! Whatever you choose, you can carry the color all through your kitchen and breakfast nook. Then perhaps you could choose a new color for your powder room!
Hope that helps you get started with a color scheme you will love!
